Hyundai/kia engine fires

On the news here in Canada about KIA fires with the 4 cylinder engines. Does anybody know if the fires are on engines that have been recalled and rebuilt.

In the US the answer is yes, I would assume (but not guarantee) the same in Canada. Recall is to inspect for possible problems in the metal high pressure fuel line from the HP fuel pump to the injector fuel manifold. New seals and proper torque of the nuts (special tool required) was required when that line was reconnected during the engine work.

Hyundai/Kia in the news again today ref vehicle fires. One couple had a new hyundai 6 months old that they paid $50,000.00 for and it burned in their driveway. There is a class action law suite underway here in canada. It seems to be limited to the 4 cylinder engines, still I can't help but worry having a Kia in mu garage.

You're OK, The 3.3 V6's are virtually bullet proof and aren't prone to spontaneously combusting.

Looks like the 2017 6 cylinder Sorento engine caught on fire on a completely new vehicle with only 630 miles on it:

By the trail left on the highway it looks like it dropped a rod/rods out the bottom.
Glad he is o.k.

Seems like KIA/Hyundai are having an inordinate amount of engine failures and fires. I was just driving down the road yesterday and saw a car going the other direction that was blowing a huge amount of smoke and appeared to be losing the engine or possibly an engine fire starting. I checked the brand and sure enough it was a newer Hyundai. I am seriously thinking about getting a fire extinguisher to keep in the car.
