Passenger side drive axle and intermediate shaft

2012 Sorento, 104,000 miles. Little bit of a rumble at low speed on smooth pavement, it matches wheel rotation speed and I don't suspect wheel bearings. The passenger side inboard boot is leaking grease, just gonna replace both drive axles. It 'looks' like I can just yank the drive axle on the passenger side from the intermediate shaft. I have both axles on hand but not the intermediate shaft.

Couple questions -

Can I indeed just pull the passenger side drive axle from the intermediate shaft?

Am I being penny wise and pound foolish? Should I just spring for the intermediate shaft and replace it also? Makes sense to do it while I'm there but not if it's a pretty much non-failure item.

I don't know if this will help you but you can page through it and see: Kia Sorento: Front Driveshaft Components - Driveshaft Assembly - Driveshaft and axle - Kia Sorento XM 2011-2019 Service Manual

At the bottom of page, click on "Front Driveshaft Removal and Installation" and then you can keep paging through.

I believe that the inner shaft bearing bracket (#2 in first drawing) for the V-6 is only available from KIA, so be careful when praying or pulling around this bracket. If it gets damaged, it can get expensive. As for the boots, I spray silicone on my boots when I change my motor oil. This seems to lube and protect the rubber boots as I have not had one break on me since I started spraying them on my cars years ago.
