Is there a TSB on the backup camera?

I have a 2012 EX V6 and my backup camera suddenly went black, it now shows only the parking lines. Took the trunk apart and the backup camera was totally corroded. This should not happen so early to a vital safety component of this vehicle.

No TSB that I know of. I also have a 2012 EX V6, and the camera went dark in the fourth year, still under the five year warranty and was replaced free by the dealer. The fact you see the parking lines tells the screen display is ok, and therefore it is the camera that is bad.

See this excellent thread for an inexpensive replacement camera:

There is a TSB about the rear camera on KIA's. This bulletin is for many different models of KIA. The TSB is ELE077R1 or ELE-0771 or other variations on the naming. Here is some of the info I was able to pull (not the whole thing) for it:

GROUP
ELE

NUMBER
077 (REV 1, 01/29/2015)

MODEL
Multiple Models (See table)

DATE
December 2014

SUBJECT:
REAR VIEW CAMERA DIAGNOSIS/REPLACEMENT

1. For customer complaints related to intermittent operation from the rear view camera, perform the following checks:

^ Confirm the parking guidelines are displayed on the AVN screen. If the guidelines are present and the vehicle owner resides in an area with high humidity, snow or rain, replace the rear view camera with an improved part.

NOTICE For concerns related to intermittent operation, always try to duplicate the customer concern, prior to replacing the rear view camera.

Thanks for the information. Will call the Dealer to see what they say.

TSB are not safety recalls. If your car still has warranty (5 years - 60,000 miles US) then it would be covered under warranty if you are the original buyer, other wise you have to pay for the replacement.

You dont have to be the original buyer for the warranty to remain valid and in effect the whole 5 year - 60000 milles. All warranties are transferable to all subsequent owners by law, at least in my jurisdiction.
