How to separate propeller shafts?

Hey all,

So I decided to get adventurous and change my own centre carrier bearing bracket. So now that I have the whole drive shaft out... How the hell do I separate the front and rear? There's a ball/cv joint type deal in the middle. The kit from the dealer came with a new boot so I eventually ended up cutting off the old one to see what I can do, but no luck... I can't figure it out...

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Any bolts, or cap screws, in those holes? You'll probably have to separate it? Then PRY the Boot on, and compress That to put it all together, then slide your boot up, and fasten it IMO? Sounds Easy Right? I doubt it :( What were you thinking? Only I usually end up in a predicament like that! ;) By the way, if you hafta do this, First, mark it with a chisel, or punch on the side, so you can put it back together just like the factory! Good Luck!

While tapping on the flat head screwdriver getting it under flange 1 I must have loosened the joing cause next time I pulled it popped off on the second yank.

Looks like just a snap ring holding the CV joint together as I was hoping but I have pulled so hard so many times I thought maybe I had to get it released at the flange.

Anyway. All cleaned up now and my puller is too short to pull the bearing. Off to Part Source for a new loaner!

Thanks again for your input!
