Thank you Soriman.

I'm not sure if that applies to mine, but if yours was making the same sound I would say it's worth looking at.

I'll bring it to their attention.

Thank you.

The dealer is following up on it. They said parts ordered and on their way.

It's taking them an awfully long time to get the parts, though.

On top of that, the service advisor I'm working with is off for a while. The service manager said he knows nothing about this which sounds very strange as it has been goings on for quite a while now.

Sound is getting louder and is happening more often and as described in the service bulletin.

I'm going to be following up with KIA.

I'll update this when more info available.

Hi bro, just put you some update, my case already settle, the noise is gone.

I not sure about we is hearing the same noise, it only will appeal when you put in the gear to R & D. is a knoking noise, metal to metal.

If your one just same as mine, you can try to ask workshop or dealer, ask them to remove the Tyre & RIM first, then tighten the nut/skull around the disc break area, & the one which are connect to the drive shaft. my case after they tighten it, the sound gone, and the handling become more firm.

***The sound actually not from the gearbox area, it come from the left and right area around the Tyre there. ask them turn the steering full to one side, and repeat R-N-D, R-N-D. they will easily notices the noise

nothing need to be replace, they only charge me labor for that..

Unusual to have an under tightened (torque spec.) stub axle nut. Unless it had been removed for other service work. I would keep an ear tuned for the noise to show up again "down the road" and turn out to be a bad wheel bearing or worn splines that connect stub axle to drive flange. In my humble opinion.

Seems like the dealer is giving me the run around. What I had been told has changed.

The service rep I've been dealing with was off for an extended time. Service manager has not been helpful/useful.

Anyway, the person I've been dealing with is back and said there was "a problem" with the part and so he's reordered it. The part is a replacement washer in the hub. The new part is steel to replace the previous plastic washer, as shown in the TSB in this thread.

Dealer said that needs to check with Kia to see if they'll cover this. The Kia rep was at the dealer on Friday and said that the dealer has to "hear the sound" (as described in the TSB?) to have it authorized. The person I've been dealing with at the dealer has seemed to be very helpful but it's been many months that the dealer has been trying to fix this. I reported the problem many many months ago. I opened this thread at the end of August and the issue was reported many months before I opened this thread. We're going on an extended test drive and I'm sure the dealer will hear this.

I called Kia customer service and they said the service bulletin may not be available in Canada so I may not be entitled to have this repaired. Not sure what they meant as this was reported so long ago while under warranty. If this new part is available to address this issue, I don't know why they wouldn't cover it. I guess we'll wait to see what happens.

I'm going to check how much the part costs and what the book value/time is to replace the part. It can't be that much. I wonder what the dealer would charge me to do this replacement. According to the TSB, I believe it may be 1 hr. I believe that's for both sides.

It's funny...I get so much correspondence from the dealer/Kia about service specials and about coming in to buy a new car that you'd think they would care about existing customers. Doesn't it make sense that existing customers would be the likeliest customers to repurchase a car from them...especially if they are happy customers?

Update on this.

Thank you Soriman!

The hub washers were replaced on both sides and the clicking doesn't seem to be happening now. They were replaced very recently, but I would hear the clicking very frequently on any trip I did with the Sorento. So, because I no longer hear it, I'm hoping this means that it has been fixed.

I'll post back a little later on whether or not the sound has happened again.

I asked to see the old part but they said that it was in pieces and wasn't possible.
