Sorento Diesel 4WD doubt or problems

Hi to all of you in forum!
I'm new here, found this because i'm having for the first time some problems with my Sorento.

My "problem" is related with transfer case i think. But first i would like to know if it's normal to be hard to turn when you select 4HI, it seems like differential is locked. I had a Vitara and this happened but only on 4LO. Also it restrains direction too much.

I've used 4WD on this many times, also use 4LO when taking jet ski out of water because terrain dirt and slippery, and haven't had problems. Now sometimes i feel it doesn't come out of 4HI but without that problem of differential lock... maybe this is confusing to understand...

For example i'm driving normally, select 4HI then indicator appears on screen all ok but get that hard to turn problem and so (don't know if normal), when i get back to 2HI i think car remains on 4HI with four wheel traction but without any turning problem, i notice it is on 4HI because behaviour of car is completely different, by the way great on wet roads, i didn't use 4HI more often because of the mentioned limitation on turning and breaking problem.

If anyone got any idea let me know. I'm thinking on taking this to a car shop and replace all oils in differentials, gearbox and transfer case just to eliminate cause, i bought this used, haven't had any problems so far but don't know what last owner tok care of this and i've done 50.000 km on it without replacing oils. Only checked level and deposits.

You are aware that you should NOT use 4Hi EXCEPT in slippery conditions (not just "wet", but slippery as in snow/ice/dirt)?? If you have been using 4Hi on "normal" roads you will certainly get axle/drive 'wind (as in winding watch, not weather ) up' and "hard to turn" as there in no central differential.

As to damage - it's possible. Going from 4Hi back to 2Hi when 'wind up' has occured the system needs to release itself - which might be done by (for example) stopping and reversing a short distance. But if everything else is ok and stays that way you may be ok.

Current Kia service schedules (UK, anyway) now stipulate changing diff/transfer case oils at 20k miles anyway. (also diesel fuel filter, so check that out if it hasn't been changed)

I thought this had some kind of central differential also... but i haven't used 4wd very much, only now it wouldn't unlock, tried reversing like in older cars but it wouldn't disconect.

Yesterday it disconected somehow... it's now ok don't quite know why.
I'll have all oils changed and hope it remains ok..... hope!
