Rear Wiper Motor Access?

The rear wiper on my '08 LX stopped working. I checked the fuse in the interior fuse box and it is good.

I tried to remove the large plastic interior trim piece from the hatch to inspect the motor and connections. I was expecting to find a couple of screws retaining the hatch interior grab handle but instead it appears to be secured by hex nuts (12mm?) on studs. Standard sockets are a very tight fit in the access holes. Maybe a thin wall socket is required?

Can anyone confirm what tool is needed to remove the rear hatch interior grab handle?

The rear wiper on my 2006 quit working. I grabbed the rear wiper arm and moved both directions it started the next time it turned on when it rained.

Does your '06 have a rain sensor? (My '08 does not).

I just tried manually moving the arm a little bit (didn't want to use too much force and break it) but that had no effect.

Mine has a rear wiper control unit. I would use a 12 volt test light or a DVOM and check for voltage.
Remove rear wiper arm retaining nut.

Mark the shaft position
Remove the trim panel
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Remove rear wiper control unit and motor mounting bolts.
I would you need to put a step latter under the hatch to hold it up.
I've never done this and don't know what tools are needed.

rhandwor - thanks for your responses.

I haven't got past removing the trim panel. I wasn't able to find a section on trim removal in the link you provided. I watched the video on Sedona lift gate repair. the guy says to remove two "screws" for the interior trim grab handle but there is only one hole when the handle is removed.

I've never done the job but watch the U-tube again for screw locations.

@kial98 Finally had a look at my rear hatch while working on something else. The hex screws are 10mm. A long reach/thin wall with an extension bar will do it.
