Are there still mods for this car?

Hey everyone, first time poster here and first time Kia owner with a 2005 Optima LX 2.4L. I really like the car so far, but I haven't been able to find performance mods of any kind for it, only for the newer models (2012+). Is there something I'm missing? Were there no mods to begin with? Is it not easy to mod? Its just going to be a daily driver, so I'm not looking to make a race car, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hazzard

Well Optimas aren't exactly known for being performance cars to begin with. Back in '05 barely anybody had heard of Kia. And even today market share is below 4%. So I'm guessing there isn't much demand.

Hey Capt!
These mods will work on any car IMO! 1st Use Synthetic Oil (less friction) then > "Training The O2 sensors!" Get yourself a Low Restriction Air Filter, like a K&N, Next is the Procedure > Warm up your car fully to operating Temp in the Driveway! (Only the O2 sensors working, reading, now) Then put the New filter in, Then take the vehicle out, and Get on it, and Go Thru the Gears! The O2 Sensors Auto Adjust, and Permanently Reset Richer! Good for about 10-20hp!

Next, get yourself a Low Restriction muffler, Flowmaster/Cherry Bomb/ Whatever! And do the same thing, let it fully warm up, then Get on it and, Go thru the gears again! And get another 10-20hp!

Ask me how I know? I did it with my old 2011' Sportage EX AWD 2.4 Auto. and gained about 20 plus HP! (Y) By the way, you'll lose a coupla mpg's, but that's not really a problem, because of the Benefits! By the way, stick with Reg gas as it's faster burning, for more, & quicker, low end torque!

Some previous Hyundai/Kia vehicles: 2002 Santa Fe LX V6 AWD, 2005 Tucson LX V6 AWD, 2010 Tucson GLS 2.4L AWD, 2011 Sportage EX 2.4L AWD, 2015 Sorento Ex V6 AWD

Thanks for the replies! I've been looking into a new exaust. Hopefully I can get it done next month. Since the engine was a misubishi clone do you think parts would be cross compatible?

I think there is just not much interest in these cars. Second, the forums software does not if i recall, inform you when someone responds. So i tend to forget when i post things.

As to your question of performance mods, i haven't found any really. I did the big 3 upgrade (power wire upgrade) that i usually do in vehicles. koraps is the best source of parts besides normal stuff you can find at rockauto. koraps is OEM from korea dealer parts. For instance i just replaced the trunk seal on my 02 optima, $15 from koraps (Plus 30 shipping), VS $250 at the dealers!. They have every stock part.

but as far as aftermarket, i would also love to see if there is a turbo type mod one could do, seeing as that its the same block as many other fancier more powerful engines!

but i guess the great thing about the car is that it barely needs any work. i have owned mine for like 5 years now and besides the timing belt at 210k kms, and a few common to all optimas problems like the power steering hoses, it has barely needed anything.
The only thing is that mine burns oil, so one day i have to get to the bottom of that. But i think the previous owned only used conventional and i use synthetic, so maybe its a small tolerance thing... about 1L every 3000km.
