Water pump time

Getting ready to do the second timing belt so I will also change the water pump as a "while I'm in there". Are there any tricks or gotcha's for the pump ? I have already done the belt the first time. I have a gates pump with paper gaskets and I have read that the 2 outlet bolts can be difficult to get to and removal of the PS pump and some spacer helps. Is it worth getting the Kia WP gasket vs the included ? Can't seem to find anything on You Tube for the job.

Thanks

i did the pump and belt with the motor out, didn't seem too bad to me but i removed p/s on the donor motor. i used the gasket that came with it the pump, and also did the front main seal when it was apart.

Did you install with any additional sealants on the paper to assist with sealing or dry.
I wonder if its easier to remove the whole piece that's attached to the water pump and replace the o-ring.

Did the job this weekend. Had trouble getting the pump removed from the bay. Ended up removing the lower alternator bolt and taking out toward the rear(firewall) and up. The oil dipstick tube is really in the way for the whole job. Wanted to remove it but wasn't sure how. The lower bolt for the water pump was a real pain but a ractcheting wrench helps. The upper needs the PS pump bolts removed. I ran into a problem with the stock WP bolts hitting the Gates WP neck. Had to shave off the tip of the bolts.
