2002 Sportage seat belt issue

My daughter's 2002 Sportage driver's side seat belt has broken. More specifically, the female end that the buckle snaps into has quit working. If we hold the release button down and put the buckle in at the same time it will hold that way but I'm worried that too will soon quit. Anyway, I got a replacement at a salvage yard. I don't want to mess with hooking up the seat belt warning beeper. Does anyone know can I just cut the wires off the old defective seat belt and install the one I got from a salvage yard without that making the buzzer going off or will cutting the wires make it worse and always make it go off? Thanks for taking the time to read/respond to this.

Reconnect the wires, look for a connector before cutting. Not connecting the wires will be like not buckling the belt, it will go off. There's a contact switch in the buckle housing.
