Headlights left on warning beeper not working

My daughter's 2002 Sportage warning system that the headlights have been left on has stopped working. Anybody know why? I remember them working a few months ago, it was a beeping sound. I wouldn't ordinarily care but she finally killed the battery today after leaving them on all day at school for the 100th time. BTW, I did search the forum and found nothing on the subject. Thanks

Not sure how that part of the system works but, does the chime work if the key is in the ignition and the driver's door is open? Both use the same alarm.

Yes, the door ajar sounder works. I'm not sure about the ignition, I want to say no because she also has locked the keys in her car several times. Yes, she is a high school girl.

Can't say where the chime module is but if it isn't sounding with key in ignition and door open, and key out with headlights on, might be the module.

On the European version of the Sportage the module is under the ashtray, but the module is different on the European version and the American version, indeed on the European version the module consists of one piece while on the American version it consists of two parts, so I do not know if the module on the American version does the same functions as the one on the European version, but the chime module on the European version is the one under the ashtray.
