Default Check engine light with some codes

Hi,

My girlfriends 02 spectra AUTO recently got a CEL and it seems to come off and on by it self. Well finally it was on when i was near an Autozone so i got it scan. Came up with these codes

p1529 - Manlf. control spd. - idle speed aux input
p0733 - Gear 3 ratio incorrect
p0734 - Gear 4 ratio incorrect

Now my question is, after some researching it seem like it has something to do with a speed sensor going bad. Her speedometer does jump errectic at times. And that is when the CEL comes on usaully. It also upshifts and downshifts rough. Can anyone help me with this?

I would start by replacing the speed sensor and then see if further error codes come up.

definitely sounds like an output speed sensor problem to me.

I've only heard of one - the one on the tranny, so do that one (first).

It's located on top of the tranny - try the link in my sig for diagrams showing the exact location.

there's technically 2 but the output speed sensor on the differential controls the speedometer. the other one is an input pulse generator (input speed sensor) and it tells the TCU what the input shaft speed is on the tranny.
