Default Gauges stopped working

Greetings,

Have a 2001 Kia Spectra - the Speedometer, Odometer/Tripometer, Fuel, Temperature gauges, AND Check Engine light have stopped working.

All the other lights on the dash, ie: door ajar, etc. are working fine.

Right before they stopped working the check engine light came on intermittently - Each time I took it somewhere for them to put a tester to find out why the check engine light was on - the darn thing turned off. Then one day the check engine light and guages stopped.

Any clue?

Thanks!

I did check the fuses under the dash on the driver's side (left panel) - all were good.

I'll see what I can find behind the gauge cluster

Thanks!

Thanks all.

I have checked all the fuses - pulled each and everyone out one at a time, checked them, and put them back. This included the fuses in the engine compartment and under the steering wheel.

There are no fuses labled specifically for the guages - I checked the two fuse panel covers and the Kia manual.

I pulled the gauge cluster out - unplugged the three plugs, checked the wires in each 'bundle' and plugged them back in.

Still nothing...

Any additional ideas are appreciated.

Thanks again!

It could be your speed sensor! But im not to sure if that would affect all of the gauges. Do the warning lights work?

Thanks for your reply!

The only warning lights that come on are the door ajar and hatch open. The dash is very basic - other than the check engine light I don't recall what other warning lights there are - lol.

Checking the owner manual, all the warning lights are checked when the ignition switch is turned on. No warning lights come on at that time. This includes: (and going from memory here)

Air Bag
Brake
Battery
Check Engine
Seat Belts
Oil

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I'll stop by one of the parts houses and see if they can hook up a tester to it.

Thanks!
