Default 2002 Kia Spectra starting problems

I have a 2002 Kia Spectra base model, with 118,000 miles, just recently it has begun to have issues starting

Sometimes when you go out to start the car, doesn't seem to matter wiether its hot or cold, it will totally fail to turn the engine over, then like last time, I went back inside for 2 hours, came back out, and the car started perfectly

it doesn't sound like a starter, there is a very small click when it fails to start, but not like my past experience when a cyleniod is failing and you get a nice loud click.

I'm not quite sure what to do, it has been a really reliable car untill now, just wndering if anyone knows anything, our local brilliant autozone employee said that there is a known problem, and to disconnect the batter for a while, and tncar should start, as it is a computer problem, I've had very mixed results with this method

please help

Are the battery terminals clean and tight? Check those and clean them up a little. SOunds like a loose connection or a ground..

I had a Cutlass long ago that did the same thing. It turned out to be a battery cable had corroded inside of the plastic covering, so it looked good. Changed the cable and no more problems. My $.02 worth.

This is an old thread, but I had to comment cause the exact same thing happened to me on a car I used to own. The battery cable looked fine, but when I peeled back the insulation I found that it was almost eaten in two.
