Default Timing belt and chain?

I recently had all the drive belts on my 04 spectra replaced including the timing belt. This was done due to the engine light coming on and when read it stated it was a cam shaft sensor which also was replaced. The problem is the light is still on so the mechanic advised me to take it to the dealership and have the computer reset.

I took it to the dealer who stated that there is nothing wrong with the computer but at first the timing belt was set on point off and that was causing the sensor to read wrong. When they got it apart they informed me it needed a new timing chain which they ordered and should be in on Friday. I want and told my usual mechanic (A licensed mechanic who has been in business for over twenty years) what the dealer told me and he stated the spectra has a timing belt not a chain so he has no clue what they are talking about because he replaced the timing belt which the car has. (The dealership stated the car had a new timing belt on it).

I then did some research and can not find any information on a timing chain?

My question is what the heck is the dealership talking about does the spectra have both? I know it has to do with the cam shaft but other than that I am lost and want to make sure I am not being told something that is not really wrong with the car.

That is what I thought, I am simply lost as to what to do. I suppose when I go back on Friday I will have to ask the specifically what it is, since everywhere I am told there is no chain.

I think you will find that the dealer is talking about the cam chain. This is a duel overhead cam engine and there is a chain that connects one to the other and may be called a timing chain.

the belt goes from the crank to one cam gear. the chain connects the cams together. there not like most dohc with 2 cam gears, ours only have one. so before people say others are "wrong" do research and learn how your car works, or think before you type.

Guys, everyone is right.
what is important here is the engine of 2004 Spectra.
In 2004 two engines were in these cars. 1.8 and 2.0 - both DOHC.
1.8 has timing belt - ONLY. fist picture.
2.0 has BOTH.
