Last Friday, my 2007 Rondo caused me quite a bit of anxiety. While driving, the engine pulley failed, and I had no steering!!! Thankfully, I was on a 4 lane city street - bad enough, and not coming down from the Grand Canyon on a switchback or a freeway overpass! I am very upset and afraid about this defect. I have contacted the NHTSA regarding this matter as it could be a life-threatening, possible recall situation. The order for the part was misplaced or somehow mishandled and I will now not have a vehicle for 5-6 days, with no loaner?!
Why aren't Kia customers provided a loaner vehicle when necessary? This car has had a series of minor repairs since I purchased it. The vehicle has lost its real value to me and its integrity is impaired and operating it makes me fearful and apprehensive - I have 2 small children, and I'm very worried that this or other problems could recur while on a freeway, or as I stated above - a worse spot.
How am I to feel safe in the vehicle now that a major repair has occurred? How am I to put my children in this car, knowing at any moment the steering could go out on a freeway, etc.?
Worse yet, the customer "care" representative was despicable - I could never or would never be allowed to speak to a customer in this manner....he basically told me, that "at least I had brakes" and to "look on the positive side of things - I didn't drive off a cliff or overpass!"
Before purchasing a KIA - think twice about your service dept. and customer "care." ASK questions. PS Honda, Volvo, etc. all have a loaner program.
bummed out...
