Default screcthing kia pride

my v reg kia pride has a nasty screcthing noise? only when the wheels are pointing straight ahead or to the wright when moving it makes this sound but when turning the wheels left it stops? even slightly to the left it stops? its the same noise as when i use the breaks any ideas wat the prob is? thought it must be the breaks but why doesn't it do it when traveling and turning the wheel to the left?

Hi there. I've had this problem recently and in my case it's down to the sun heating the plastic around the dashboard by the steering wheel. If you squeeze the plastic behind the steering wheel, to the right of the mileage counter it may make a stretching sound as you describe. The noise in mine is now infuriating. So I've fixed it by putting a triangle shaped bit of wood in between the plastic on the cover on the mileage/speedo. Have a go with that.
