Default Kia Pride LX 1.3 1994 - Acceleration Issue

Hello,

I have a Kia Pride LX 1.3 1994 (5 doors). I have been driving it since august 06 and it's been fine until late last week.

When i go to accelerate above say 15mph, sometimes the car jerks; and no matter how far i put the pedal down, it will not go any faster. To solve the issue i have to shift down accelerate more then shift up again.

I have got used to the car and i am pretty sure that i am in the right gears for the speeds which i want to do.

If anyone has any ideas on what the issue may be then it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Scott

had the same problem before, check the following :

spark plugs - make sure they are clean. my kia works best with Denso spark plugs. for some reason - it doesnt work well with NGK or Bosch.

fuel filter - the more likely cause - you have water in the fuel filter or the fuel filter is already full of grime. kia's fuel filter is tiny. i changed mine to a Nissan Sentra's which is a huge (and better) - with no adverse effect in performance. yun nga lang - you might need to change the rubber tubing (fuel line) and relocate the filter so that you can easily see if there is water in your filter.

if water continously appears - you have a leak in your fuel system - air is getting in and water condenses in your tank. kia fuel tanks have no drain (this sucks) so its hard to tell. in my case the culprit was a deteriorated gas intake tube. it was rusted out because of its position behind the rear wheel where a lot of mud and water gets thrown at it.

hope this helps.
