Default Engine light on and flashing O/D off

Hello
I have seen the forum very helpful . I had the engine light on last week and a small miss fire on my car. I gave it to the nearest dealer. THey changed all the spark plugs and cleaned Engine throttle for $150. While taking the car back home the engine light came back up on with flashing O/D off. I returned car on next day morning. Now they r telling that this time your TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE faulty and have to replace it for $610. I suspect that they might have done something whie doing the Engine throttle cleaning. The O/D off was not flashing while i gave my car first time. It was likely to be spark plug problem from the Engine light on and small miss fire. Can any one help me what could be the problem as if i take it to another dealer it will cost me again to start over scanning.

with the od light on the tranny is in safe mode. I would try and disconnect the negative terminal on battery then go in car turn on lights and hit the brakes. (this will clear the codes) and the light should be off. But if it does come back on I would get it scanned...
