Default I need some of your thoughts

Hi guys,

i just need your opinions, last year i had my van's engine re-surfaced, it ran very good and very responsive, but just last friday, it overheated again, and nung chineck ko, yung mga symptoms ng overheating niya, kailangan ng i re-surface ang makina ang mga lumabas, katulad ng pag umaandar ang makina na bukas ang radiator cap, bumubulwak ang tubig palabas, i was thinking, parang ang bilis naman na kailangan na uli ipa re-surface yung makina.

thanks.

all i can say is have the heads reworked by a good machine shop although i have heard that if it has been resurfaced resurfacing it would depend on if there is allowance or if possible to resurface it some more, my opinion is if your engine is okay you can have it resurfaced and then change the radiator so hopefully you wont go over heating again, and if you do buy a engine if it is in the philippines ops yup nag tagalog pala tayo so problem mo is surplus yong engine so how do we know that that engine your are getting is really better than your engine . not unless you have a friend int the supply business and then he would tell you or even gurantee you that the new or surplus engine is good then go for the surplus . Well those are my thoughts cause i saw a pajero of my friend who bought a surplus engine and when i was about to pay for it i back out since the engine was already sputtering oil out of the dipstick hole and also the oil filler hole. well i just dont know how long the replacement engine lasted for him any way just some opinions

before working on the engine itself , suggest you double check the water / cooling system to make sure na walang bara. changing the radiator sounds ok, also check yr engine fan / baka sira na (clutch fan ba yan or electrical?) in any case, if eliminated na lahat ng other possible sources ng problem - then work on the engine.

Angry radiator fans

yup i thinks some one mentioned about the fan most prob it has some sort of clutch radiator fan which makes it rotate freely even when engine is not running try having it fixed some mechanics do something to it to make it fixed and it turns when engine is turning for some reason it helps because when the clucth fan is old the silicone grease inside either is lessend or i dont know what pheonomenon it is it cannot turn the fan to its max speed so by fixing it permanently with engine it will turn as fast as the engine turns although some people would say it is advantageous to have the clutch fan because it will turn freelly when engine is slowing down but since it is clutch it is possible that when decelerating the fan spins faster than the engine but then i guess when i did it with my besta it did help cool the engine down a few mm based on the temp needle, also have the radiator and engine flushed with some radiator flush from the gas stations although hehehe it seems its some sort or ferric chloride of sorts when i used it, it reminded me of the solution i used to eat excess copper from printed circuit boards so any way i did do it and it did help cool the engine however one day i found out it ate the oil plugs on the oil cooler side which ended up mixing oil with water hehehe almost had my heads reworked good the the mechanic said oh yes there is a oil cooler submerged in the side of the engine and he said it might be the covers that look like bootle cap covers that might be leaking so they did check and it was so save some money from the head rework , about head rework or surfaceing i understand you resurface if it is bent or the gasket cannot perform a good seal due to the bent ness of the head so the need for resurface so that the gasket can seal the block so have it check if it can still be sealed by gasket you may or may not have the heads re surfaced again

Default fans

you are dead on re the fan. what allows Kia clutch fans to spin fast even during idling is the silicone gel - which eventually runs dry. you can try and switch to an older (albeit heavier) clutch fan model which does not have the silicone gel but rather a sprocket like mechanism (like that on your bike). some opt to fix the fan to the engine - and still some opt to install an auxiliary fan in front of the radiator which can be turned on separately and can be used in cases where the engine fan can no longer keep the engine cool. since the radiators in these vans are large you can even put two auxiliary fans.
