Default Kia Pride 2000

We own one of the above, it has done 26ooo miles. Ten days ago we had a new front wheel bearing fitted, and now we find the hub is packing up and needs to be replaced. We have managed to find one in a breakers but wondered if anyone else has experienced this problem. We are thinking of selling it as soon as its fixed.

I had a pride some time back (great car)
I put some after market wheels and it looked great but cased the rear passenger wheel bearing to go, packed it with grease a couple of times but in the end had to get it changed. I will always remember that bearing as it only made a noise at 50MPH and I got a speeding ticket when I was tiring to diagnose the problem.
I think there are two bearings, an inner and an outer if you were keeping it I would suggest changing both.

I have a kia pride. for the front - there are two bearings - but both are the same size. for the rear - they are of different sizes - inner and outer.

The front bearings are hardy - the rear are (often) not. they do last though - just avoid some of the more nastier potholes that riddle our streets.

having the standard tires (165/65) also helps. smaller/thinner tires means smaller protection. I also maintained my steel rims - which are hardier (i think) than the mags being offered in the market. It has many dents in it already but a few hammer strokes usually fixes it.

broken bearings usually gives a low (but audible hum) at 50+ kph. at the first instance - have it changed and have the mechanic pack the bearings with grease correctly. my rule of thumb is that if i cant hear my car radio clearly (volume set at 21), then a bearing is due for replacement.

I have the same problem with my ride. 50Kph and above youll hear like your inside the plane just beside the wing where the engine is. To confirm this problem, jack up your tire, hold it on both sides, try to push it left and right. if it moves, you have to replace your bearing immediatly. Whats sad though is i have just changed my front bearing when my CVJoint starts to make sound, after having it changed, its the bearing that makes sound now...

the CV joint makes a "tick tick" sound when you are turning. if you do not hear this loud clicking sound when you are turning then the cv joint is fine.

the humming sound can come from either the bearing (you are right - you can check the bearing's condition by raising the questionable wheel and rocking the wheel top to bottom) or the shock absorber. Defective shock absorbers also emits / transmits lots of road noise to the car., it can even sound like a broken bearing.

thing is the replacement parts available here is made by Ginza - and they are no good. one or two years and sira nanaman. can anyone recommend a better brand - with a reasonable price - and where it can be bought?

Finally some people who may be able to help me with my little Kia
I purchased a Kia Pride 1.3i about two weeks ago and when we got her there was a rummbling noise coming from the o/s front wheel and a slight vibration, the man selling her said this was due to a lump in the tyre, i have since replaced the tyres all round along with the rear wheel bearings which were making some noise due to wear... The o/s front Cv boot is split and my partner seems to think the joint has wear in it as the noise is still there. I have my suspisions it could be a bearing as the wheel is a little wobbly but the problem is getting much worse and seems to make a louder noise when turning full lock right. I also need a boot for the driveshaft on the other side.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and more importantly, where can i buy parts for this pride, preferably second hand?So far i have tried breakers accross the country (UK) and dealers, plus ebay.. I finally managed to track down a new drive shaft but they were £490 for one side and £505 for the other side Rather scary prices since i only paid £300 for the car

Any help massivly appreciated:hug:
