HELP PLEASE. I had a problem with misfire and low to no power. I have had the head reconditioned, 2 valves replaced, major service, new fuel injection coolant sensor, dumped 2 lots of fuel injector fluid in, had the injectors cleaned and serviced, new distrib cap and leads. Took it for a burn for 2 hours at 100kph to see if it would clear - still rough idle. We are running out of options and it costing a fortune looking the answer. Any one, any where any ideas, Thanks

Hi,

you may need a new fuel pump.

Default Kia Sportage and idle problems.

Hello,
Try the fuel pump relay. I had this problem for over a month. Replaced the fuel filer and fuel pump with no luck. Took it back to the dealer two days ago they replaced the fuel pump relay and now it is working fine. BTW, the dealer did not charge me anything because I am still under 70,000 miles.
Hope this helps.

I would not go along with the suggestion that it's a fuel pump problem, because if this was the case then you'd have trouble not at idle, but at speed when the fuel demand is greater.

What spark plugs are you using and what gap setting - the standard NGK are recommended and set at 0.75mm (0.03")

If the idle rpm's are not being held steady them it may mean that you have a problem with the Idle Speed Control (ISC) valve. Very often this can be cured by taking it off and cleaning it with "Carb Cleaner".
