Default engine shut off on me

Hey everyone, i've got a somewhat perplexing problem with my 2000 Sportage.

A couple of nights ago i was turning from a highway onto a city street and the engine shut off on me. I coasted to the nearest grocery store only to find white smoke pouring from the engine.

I lost a heater core hose and alot of coolant but the engine DID NOT overheat, it never got above operating temperature. I replaced the hose and the coolant but now the engine won't start.

Any suggestions?

Hello,
fill out profile, now, please.

Once you lost coolant there was nothing in the engine to heat the temperature sensor... so even if the engine overheated you could be not aware of it.

As for not starting - could you be more detailed? Does it crank, does it get spark, fuel, any trouble codes... anything to narrow it down.
From not starting I can tell battery died. Replace battery. Next I will tell you replace the ignition switch, starter, fuel pump... and many things.
On the very end it may turn out that it was the safety switch which sometimes may get activated while in accident or from some other sudden move.
