Default Very dissapointed with KIA extended warranty

I have an 05 Sportage which had been a great car, completely trouble free. After the initial 3 year warranty expired I took out an option for a further year, not cheap by any means but what I hoped would be peace of mind. I started to notice a clattering noise on pull-away so took it back to my local dealer. They diagnosed a faulty clutch but advised this would not be covered by any warranty as it was likely due to wear and tear. My vehicle was just 3 and a half years old and had 35000 miles on the clock, the clutch would cost the best part of £700.00 to replace. I complained to KIA UK but they would not entertain any claim under warranty. I needed to use the vehicle so had to pay for the repairs. I have subsequently taken out an AA repair insurance scheme which does cover clutch replacement and would advise others to do likewise. AA insurance cost just £70.00, a fraction of the price for an extended KIA warranty.

actually that is very normal. normal ware and tare items like clutch's and brakes are not uncluded. and if they are, its usually for the initial 5,000 miles against defects. and im not talking normal for kia. thats been my experience with other car makers in the past. i havent had any experience with the kia service yet luckily.

Mr. XXX... is right. Normal wear and tear items usually aren't covered and this is usually noted under the terms and conditions.

I agree with other responders, wear and tear are not covered even in the initial 60K mile warranty. I'd check any other after market maintenance policies for similar terms.
