Default Looking at an '09 Sportage

Well my fiance's Jeep has met it's match. We've dumped so much cash into it, it's time to kiss it goodbye. The Sportage's are priced nice and with the cash for clunkers, now is a perfect time to buy a new car.

Do any of you regret buying one? I see there's a fair amount of posts on problems on older models, and I've done some google searching to see there's been a lot of problems with being sluggish and shutting off. This worries me a tad, except I'm hoping things have been corrected. I've talked with a few freinds that have them and they love them. The price point, size, and looks suit us well though.

We're looking at the 4wd, V6 with the automatic tranny. I tried to knock them down in price but with the $3500 for clunkers and $3000 dealer rebate, they said they won't budge. Should I push more or do you think they're pretty tight on pricing? They want right around $21k for the LX. With $6500 in rebates, I'm wondering if I can push for a hitch or something ($500).

As a kia dealer I can tell you unless they have a ton in stock or they need one or two cars to meet there bonus level for the month they are not going to move much . If at all there is a shortage of the 09 s and dealers are getting swamped with cash for clunkers my advise buy it now because someone else will asap!

Is the Sportage $21K after the $6500 rebate?

I was in your exact situation. I traded in my explorer this morning for a 09 sportage. Picked up a v6 4wd one for a bit over 13k out the door after the cash for clunkers and some rebates i got. Im pretty happy with the deal.

No, beforehand. I'm going to pass on the Sportage after thinking it over some more.

I bought a 09 LX 4WD V6 Auto last Friday. Have about 500 miles on it. Could not find any 4WD's in Atlanta or even in Georgia. Went on vacation to NC and bought one in Ashville, NC. Very happy so far. But they would not move much on the price. The spread between invoice and MSRP is only about $1k. Did get the $3k rebate which expired on 8/3. I had no trade so cash for clunkers did not apply. Still a great deal compared to competition especially when you consider warranty. You could deal on a 2WD but not much on a 4WD. Note: The car does not come with the 'special' Kia iPod cable. I found one on ebay for $27.

I've owned my '08 Sportage for about eight months and have over 10K on the clock. I absolutely love the car, I've had zero problems and get up to 30 MPG on the road (W/O Air Cond on). Fit and finish are first class and the car gets a lot of admiring looks.

I am just now considering an 09 sportage....2wd I4 Automatic....base car. Sticker is 20485 with destination charges. The Kia rebate is 2500 and they also have a competitive bonus of 500 ( I own an Isuzu Trooper) and Kia loyalty offer of 500 ( I own a Kia Sorrento). Plus I have a clunker to trade in (the Isuzu Trooper). The dealer is saying that I can't combine the loyalty and the competitive bonus. I've read all the fine print 7 or 8 times and I don't agree. I read them to say that I qualify and can use all the offers I mentioned.

I'm willing to walk if he can't kick in the 500. Has anyone else used all three (actually four) offers?

I live in NY and I have a pal that used all 3 offers. She didn't have a clunker to trade in. I don't see why you can't use all 4. Go to another dealer.
