Unhappy need help- 96 sportage 4x4

please help. I have a 96 sportage 4x4 5-speed. It ran great until one morning it began to make a horrible rattling noise. I pushed the clutch to pull over, and it died. acted like it was overheating, but temp gauge never moved from normal operating temp. towed it home, it started back up only once, ran choppily for about 30 sec, & died again. I have replaced fuel filter & pump, coil packs, plugs, catalytic converter, checked timing belt, & I just am about to tear out what little hair i have left, because it makes no sense. I have taken good care of it, Im the one who put it over 100,000 miles, & it has always ran good & strong until now. any input greatly appreciated.

Did you do a compression check? Make sure the cam timing is on (check it per manual).
Might have someone squirt a little gas in the intake and see if it smooths out (clogged injector), Check the black air box on the back side of the intake and make sure hose clamps are tight.
If I think of other things, I'll post them.
got lift?
