Default Fuel tank

Was wondering if it is possible to transplant a gas tank, sending unit, the whole works from a earlier sportage. Mines a 2001, the donor is a 1999. Did anyone ever do this? Not to concerned about check engine light issue, because I don't think mine was ever off from day one. Thanks.

The MOBIS parts shows the older Sportages share the same fuel tank up to 2002. But the 2 and 4 doors use different tanks. Check your donor tank for corrosion on the tank itself pass the undercoating. If it has any, find another donor tank. The fuel pump and sending unit is iffy, you can try it and see if they share the same connectors. Good luck.
