Default Kia Sportage Electrical problem

Hello all. I have a problem with my daughters Kia Sportage that may be related to some of the grounding issues other forum members seem to have.
What this does however, is she has an random problem when she applies the brake (or sometimes the turn signal) the power shuts off for just a second. The clock and radio go off and the stations reset and the outside lights go out. It only happens for a second and the car has not shut down to the point where it wont run. Des this sound like a grounding problem and how hard is it going to be to locate? Should I wait until the car stops for good? Is this a Kia dealer repair or should the local repair guy be able to do it?
And advise is appreciated. Thanks

My 2002 Sportage had similar issues with electrical. When we would open any door other than the rear hatch, all door locks would lock and unlock on their own several times. What would up being the issue was some light corrosion on connectors inside the engine compartment. Primarily one that resides below the battery, between the battery and engine toward the rear of the compartment. I would start with easy DIY things like that first.

Also, is there, or was there an after-market security device or accessory installed. A lot of times the installers don't give a crap about your car and just "get it in". If they used crimp splice connectors this can cause strange intermittent issues like this. Since it's the brake and blinker that set it off, I would check for loose or broken wires and connections under the driver side console.
