Hi Gary,

It is hard to tell what is leaking without being there. I suggest you use some spray cleaner to clean off the power steering unit and hoses, then let it dry and top off the fluid. Start the car up and have someone turn the steering wheel while you look at the unit and hoses for leaks.

Here is a link to the Kia site: Kia Global Information System (KGIS)

You will need to register and sign in, then click on Shop and enter your model and year and press GO. On the left there is an index that you can click on. Go to Steering System and then Hydraulic Power Steering. You can click on the various topics and read about replacing the hoses and also about bleeding the system.

Hope this helps.

Would you say that the power steering on a 2001 Sportage is normally harder to turn and alot less smooth than a 2005 outlander?
Or Is there a way to make my power steering just as smooth?
