Default A/C, power windows and wipers quit working

Update!

Tonight I bought a fuse tester and a pack of fuses. After testing, I replaced 6 fuses, and still cannot fix the problem! Any suggestions, or should I just quit trying to be cheap and take it to a dealership?

Thanks

Hi folks,

This is s a first time post for me.

I am in need of some help with my 99 Sportage. Last week, I lost power to the A/C, power windows and wipers. When I got home, I removed and checked the fuses and relays that are located in front of the battery and they were all okay. Eventually, I restarted the engine, and everything was fine.

Yesterday, I experienced the same problem, and playing with the same fuses and relays got it working again. When I started up from cold this morning, everything was working fine. After about 20 mins, I turned off the engine after going through the car wash, and when I restarted, I had lost the A/C windows and wipers again. This time, I cannot get them working!

I have checked all the fuses in the drivers foot well area (as welll as the connections) and I know the fuses under the hood are okay. The battery terminals and leads are nice and clean and not corroded (I cleaned the posts and terminals, just to be sure) . I have removed the fuse/relay holder from in front of the battery and inspected for any damaged or loose wires. Even disconnecting the battery in hopes of a reset, didn't work.

Any suggestions, anyone? Right now, the car is outside of my house with the windows open! Even if I cannot get the air or wipers working, I'd be happy for a "quick fix" that will get my windows closed.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Neil

One of the reasons why this is happening is probably because module is turning off and shutting the flow. The relay might be heating up and failed. You better bring your car in the car dealer and let the mechanic take a look at the problem.

okay..a quit fix...more than likely you have no power to your windows in the fuse box...what you do is...take a piece of wire...speaker wire works...and find the fuse on the driver side inside for the power windows pull it and wrap one end of the wire around one of the prongs and plug it back in...then take and push the other end of the wire into the fuse for the cigar lighter. this will provide power to the windows quicky push the bottons and roll your windows up. avoid using often as it can cause overheating and melting...i only know this because i did the today haha.

I would try changing the relay for that circuit. I've had relay problems and the relay tested fine but a new relay fixed the problem, go figer. I even tried taking the cap off the relay and spraying/cleaning it with contact cleaner, that didn't work either. BTW the relays I cleaned would work for a short time (1 week) and then quit. If I checked soon enough they were usually hot or warm to the touch.
