Default Check engine light

I just bought a 2001 Sportage it has set for about 7 months before I bought it. Runs fine but I will get a chech engine light and flashing hold light seems to come after the transmition gets hot. I have a code reader and got two codes P0740 (Torque converter/Clutch circuit malfunction) and P1624 (MIL Reguest Circuit (TCM to PCM) circuit malfunction). Even with the codes in there and the light on it still runs good no physical sign of rough sift. I am starting to think it is just a sensor gone bad. Has anyone had this problem before that light being on worries me since I drive 80 miles round trip to work and back.
