Is there something contaminating the O2 sensor, like wrong fuel, certain gasket sealing compounds etc.

You could do the following check described on the KiaTech web site.

1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Run engine at idle speed.
3. Connect a voltmeter between terminal 4 (BLK wire) and ground.
4. Increase and decrease the engine speed quickly several times.
5. Verify that the meter reading varies between 0-1.0 V.

If it doesn't respond lively around those voltage values, then the O2 sensor is bad.

You can reset (clear the error codes) the ECU by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

thanks ,i havent tried that, but i could see it crossing back and forth over the threshhold on the hand held scanner i was using.but what gets me is that it has done the same pattern 3 times.moduels clear inc. at about 40 or 50 miles and all is cool for about another 20 or so miles then the next time i start it and accelerate it comes on.just like clock work.but ill give the vom a shot this weekend.see if i can measure at the ecm that would rule out bad wiring.
thanks again

hi all. just checked my voltage at the o2 sensor and it was working fine as to say it was jumping bak and forth 1 or more times a second.checked the wires to the ecm for ground faults they were good.checked my voltage at the ecm and it was the same as at the o2 sensor.can anyone else think of something to check because at this point im thinking the ecm is not processing the signal like it should.would like to hear from anyone that has had simaler problem.also redid my ground wires connections and added another ground staight to the body.
thanks
