Default Sportage 56 reg

Hi Everyone

I'm new to this forum but would like some advice if possible.

We have a 56 reg sportage which we bought in February of this year. About six weeks ago we noticed the air con wasn't working.

To cut a long story short the garage has had the car for over two weeks now and can't find out why the air con won't work. They've put a new unit in and tried (according to them) everything two or three times but it still won't work.

It's getting to the stage now that we're a bit fed up and as the garage don't seem to have an answer we don't know what to do next.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Default Three Questions:

Mags

(1) what do you mean by "56 reg" -- I don't understand the term ?

(2) please define "not working" (e.g., not cold; compressor not engaging; etc.) ?

(3) what year is it and howmany miles on it ?

56 reg means it was registered somewhere in 2006 - October i think.

It's not working as in when you turn it on the air doesn't get cold. The fan works but the air coming out isn't cold. It's been regassed but this hasn't made any difference. Normally when you put the air con on you can hear it 'kick it' but on ours it doesn't. It's got 15,000 miles on the clock.

Based on the info provided, I would think that the dealer should be taking care of this issue under warranty (?)... unless you meant 150k miles and not 15k miles.

I'm still not clear on what year the make of the vehicle is.

The year of make for the vehicle is 2006. The dealer has had the car for over two weeks now to try and fix it. It is covered by the warranty but the point is they can't fix it - have tried everything (according to them) and have even put in a new ac unit but it still won't work.

So we don't know where to go from here. Do we take back a car that doesn't have ac and just live with it or do we ask for a replacement?

OK -- my wild guess at this point is that you've got an electrical problem of somekind -- especially if you or the previous owner added anykind of electrical components.

I can tell you that when I bought my 02 Conv new, the next day I had a third party outfit install a remote starter/alarm/etc, and the next time it rained, I was blowing fuses. The good news was that the dealer did (eventually) find and fix the problem for zero dollars... even though it was clearly the fault of the third party outfit, so I'm not sure quite how to advise you, since I live in Massachusetts and they have an "anti-lemon" law that tends to be somewhat unfair to sellers of vehicles.

If the place you are taking it is the same place you bought it from, then I'd tell them to just swap it for another vehicle.
