Default Yellow Engine Light

Just reached 900 miles on new Sportage and yellow engine light came on in display. Book says it has to do with emissions but is drivable. What is this about and can I deal with it without going to the dealer.

It's best to get it to the dealer, because until they read the error code stored in the ECU you won't know what caused the light to come on.

Yes, get the dealer to check it, but also check your fuel cap it 'tight'.

If it is not tightened after your fill up it can bring the light on.

I'd advise against resetting and clearing the stored codes in the ECU without first identifying what it is, particularly on this new vehicle.
