a/c not cold

hi to everyone
just got kia spotage 2lt 1999 model
when i got it i was told aircon not working the guy said the man who had it befor him had it regased but still would not work.
when i press the aircon the engine dose not kick in if you know what
i mean revs dont change is there some way of telling if its not working
apart from being cold dont know how true the guy was when he said the orther guy had it regased 18months ago has i beleave when its empty it wont kick in any idears as i cant find much info

Follow the electrical wiring from the AC and see if it is disconnected somewhere... my guess is that it is disconnected, if you feel/hear nothing when AC is turned on.

It does sound like the A/C compressor magnetic clutch is not getting power - with the ventilation fan on switch the A/C on and off and watch to see if the A/C compressor clutch engages and turns the pulley, and if not then you'll need to track the clutch wire.
