Default 1997 Kia Sportage Valve Cover

Well my Sportage is running like shit and I just found out why. The plugs and coils keep getting fouled with oil and it can only be one thing. The valve cover gasket. I pulled all the plugs out today and then cleaned everything up and put it back together. Instantly ran better. After about 30 mins of driving it started again. To confirm my suspisions I will pull the plugs again tomorrow and have a look but I am almost positive on this one.

My questions for you guys is what is the torque specifications for the valve cover bolts?

I have just had the same problem with my 97 model i opted to use gasket sealant as well as the standard rubber gasket just as a precaution. Im not sure of torque of bolts but i just nipped them up working from the middle them going diagonal across the engine then repeat process a few times. (Are you able to help with my coil pack wire problem?????)

I ended up torquing them down to 10 ft lbs all the way around. It seems to be working fine and the car is no longer mis-firing and running like crap.

What was your problem with the coils?
