I just wanted to let the moderators and regular posters know that their efforts here are put to good use. I am new to Kia and had some difficulties with my recently purchased 99 Sportage. I was really beginning to regret the purchase but with the help of this forum and the search feature I was able to accurately diagnose and repair my problems, I think. I really hate that security feature though.

To recap; Oil fouled ignition components due to a leaking valve cover gasket. Non NGK plugs were previously installed. Cracked coil packs. Deteriorated ignition harness. Plugged/deteriorated catalytic converter. All recognized with a little research here.

All seems well now but I thought I would register and say thanks and introduce myself for when the next problem pops up.
