Default 2000 Sportage, Overflow tank questions.

Hello guys, I just got a used 2000 Kia Sportage on an "as is" deal and have noticed that the overflow tank is missing a cap. For the time being I have "made" a cap for it but am not sure if it needs to be pressurized or vented, if you are in the know on this please fill me in. BTW, a picture would be appreciated.

I do believe you are talking about the overflow tank for the radiator. If that is the case, here is a picture from my 2001 Sportage.

It is not pressurized. The overflow line runs from the rad to the tank(Blue Cap) The line from the right side is a drain that just runs down and drains to the ground in case of overfilling the tank. The inlet to the tank has a line from the underside of the cap to the bottom of the tank, this way it will flow back to the rad when required.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for the response. That's the information I was needing. I have taken a small plastic cup and placed it over the opening, it fits nice and snug. I drilled out a hole large enough for the hose to go into, and left two small vent holes - this is of course a temp fix. I found a new tank/cap for $16 online and will replace it soon. For the time being though it's fixed, thanks again for the picture.
