Default Petrol tank

Hi All,
does anyone know if the petrol tank from a later model than my Sportage 98 would fit? I've been advised by my garage that my tank is showing signs of corrosion and was therefore thinking of getting it replaced. First I need to know if all the Sportages have the same tank as I could probably get one from a local breakers yard, but trying to pin down an exact year and model the same as mine could prove a little tricky.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers,
MartinDJ

Hi Martin I live in Canada I have a similar probleum with my 00 sport i,ve got a leaking tank i have looked at every salvage yard in CDA. and a lot of U.S. their are two tank types one with 2 vent lines and one with 3 vent lines as far as I can find out this the only difference in tanks. hope this helps. P.S. you have to get the vent configuration on your orignal tank. pops

thanks for the info Poppy. I might see if I can get the leak repaired first. As long as it's not too bad. fingers crossed. After all, it's only a container for holding petrol. how complicated can it be? haha. If I get stuck, I'll give my friend a call. He does all sorts with cars and if he can't fix the leak then nobody can.
Hope you have luck with yours.
