Default Changing speakers in doors?

Hi fellow Sportagers.

I am upgrading the sound system in my wonderful 2006 Sportage that is about 2 weeks old. The stock sound system was OK (although it had problems playing MP3 cds) but I have upgraded it to a great Pioneer DVD deck which I had installed professionally. But the door speakers (stock are actually quite good!) I want to change over and wanted to see if there are any tips you can give me.

Is there any public place I can find instruction on how to remove the door panels without destroying them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Really enjoying the car and I think KIA have done a great job at making a very affordable, yet stylish and good quality car. Great work!

Mark

I have already removed the door panels and it is not that difficult.
Get yourself a panel remover or a flat head screw driver and either a knife with a pointed tip or anything that you can use with a sharp tip.
1- Your first task is to located all of the screws.
2-Once you find them take the knife or sharp tiped object and remove the covers over each screw. The hardest one to remove the the screw behind the tweeter cover. You have to pry off the cover by pulling on it firmly. Once the cover is off the rest is easy.
3-Now that all of the screws are off work from the bottom up and pull off the panel. Try not to break the push pins.
4-Once the panel is loose just lift it off the window rim by pulling up.
5-Now the only remainning step is to disconnect all of the wires such a power window, and locks. When you find them lift up the tabs on either side gently and disconnect.

Good Luck!
