Question Radio Installation in '06 Sportage

How do you uninstall the factory stereo in the '06 Sportage? There is a wire harness available at Crutchfield.com but there are no instructions on how to get inside the dash to take the old stereo out. Can someone help me? I've been trying to figure it out for weeks.

I know it's frustrating trust me. You have to start by the bottom of the centre console. You'll see 2 little indents use a flat head screwdriver to pry it outwards. That's the easy part. Now for the difficult part. About half way up the console I think there are 2 snaps on both sides which are very very tight. Grab the edge and pull firmly (you might want to use a screwdriver if you can). It's really tight but don't worry. Once you have that out all that is left is the top. There are 2 more clips at the top but those should come out easily. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. You are the first person that has been able to help. I figured there was some way that center console came off but I didn't want to try it until I was sure I wasn't tearing anything up.

No problem. Like I said, when you get to middle of the console just pull firmly. Good Luck!
