Default Wheel Locks/Wheel Lock Key

Went for my second oil change where I was going to have the tires rotated. The garage couldn't find the wheel lock key. I had no idea I had wheel locks on my '13 Soul much less there was such a thing as wheel locks. I called the dealer who first told me to look for the "little red box" back where the tire replacement kit is located. No little red box. I called back, talked to a different person and they told me it's an option I'll have to buy from the parts department. Huh? I don't know if the second person thought I was wanting to buy wheel locks and didn't understand I already had them, and I just need a key to them or what?

Can anybody enlighten me on this? It would seem if I already have wheel locks then a key should have come with them.

Thank you.

Wheels locks where add to your Soul either when it came into this country or at the dealership. Your window sticker would tell you which. There should be a package somewhere in your car with the key and stock lug nuts, and the paperwork with your ID card. If you can't find it, ask your local Kia dealership's service dept. (NOT sales dept.)if they have a master wheel lock key set.

Default Wheel locks and window sticker

I called the dealer's service department who told me to look at the window sticker to see if wheel locks were on it. No. But yet they're on the car. All I want is my wheel lock key. The service guy was talking that this is going to be an expense. It wouldn't seem like it should be and that perhaps, there was some confusion: I got wheel locks but wasn't provided the non-lock lugs and the key to the wheel locks that came on the car. Comments, advice?

Thank you.

Did you ask them if they had a master wheel key set? If that dealership does not have that set, call another Kia dealership to see if they have one. Your Kia could have been a dealer trade, and they might have put them on. Just find a dealer that has the key set. I've worked at 2 Kia dealers and we both have them.

cobra259 must be right as I had my tires rotated at my last service and they didn't even ask for my personal "key" to remove them.

My locks were dealer installed and do not come from the factory that way (they were listed on the purchase invoice I signed). They only provide it for the 18" machine alloys. The key nut for the wheels was in a plastic bag in the glove box along with instructions and how you can obtain replacement if required. Also the original wheels nuts they removed were in the bag too.

Have you tried the Sales Department at the dealership? If it was a new car, they should know something about it. If all else fails, those lock nuts aren't usually very tight; you may be able to shift them by driving on a socket and unscrewing. -You know, one of those hex sockets with 12 splines.

Did you inspect the car at delivery time? Wheel locks should be easily noticed. I fitted a set to my new car and stored the 2 keys and 4 spare non-lock nuts. One of the keys went into the small emergency tool-kit that I carry, the other was stored (with the nuts) in the recess for the jack. (Some more places for you to look!)

First thing I do with a new car is check out the jacking and wheel changing procedure. This prevents future problems. Spoke to a guy the other day who has never been able to loosen the wheel nuts on his car; he didn't seem troubled by this as he gets the dealer to rotate tyres etc. Takes all types.

Got it worked out. Sales called parts and they gave me one of the masters they had. It was a good experience with the dealership. There were no questions asked about what was an oversight on the part of the dealer in not supplying me with the key when I got the car. On top of that, the parts guys were the ones who did the work of determining the right key rather than service.
