No Magnetbra for Me!

With all the hoopla regarding chipping paint I decided I wanted to protect the hood on my wife's new soul.
While the clear bra seems to be a popular option, I did not feel comfortable doing it myself.
Since I am a do-it-myself kind of guy I wanted something I could do/undo much like the wife's bra itself. (chuckle-chuckle)
I ordered a magnetic bra from (http://magnetbra.com/) and it arrived quickly.
When attempting to fit it, I say "attempt" because it never did "fit" though it gave me fits while trying!
Every time I moved it a new problem (bubble or crease) arose and it got to the point that it was more trouble than it was worth.
Well...I returned it according to their 30 day "unconditional guarantee" and they don't want to refund my $$$.
The owner cut the bra a little larger (deeper) to protect more of the hood as the standard bra was rather shallow but it does not fit at all!
Obviously this is an item that seems to work better in theory then it does in practice.
I would not recommend magnet bra for 2 reasons.
1-The bra is cut with all the precision of a color forms toy (wavy free handed cuts not precision machine cutting)
2-They don't stand behind their "unconditional guarantee" as their guarantee seems quite conditional or close to the truth non-existent!
I now have a vinyl le-bra on the car.
It covers all the way up to the hood bulge and the fit is good if not perfect.
I like the way it looks and it allows for easy removal and cleaning when necessary.
That is my tale of woe and thanks for tuning in!

This company obviously sucks.

I got the OEM bra from cobra a few months after I got the Soul. It has saved the paint on more than one occasion.

The clear bra is nice, but extremely overpriced.

I've used bras on my cars for decades with never a single issue. Some claim it scratches paint. On four cars since the 1980s I not one time ever had this problem.

Okay, so I sent that company an e-mail letting them know word spreads fast on the internet when a company does these things. Part of the e-mail stated, "...complained the product received from you was inferior and that despite a "no hassle" refund policy, you aren't giving refunds even on returned stuff."

His reply was this...

Whoever told you this is a liar.

I install clear bras for a living so I'm a bit biased. It takes a bit of practice and I don't think that it's over priced. It takes about 1.5 hours of intense concentration and the vinyl isn't cheap if you offer 3M (which is what we use) and it makes a WORLD of difference.
Any other kind of bra just collects micro-debris underneath it and just causes a 1000 little micro abrasions which can cause extensive damage.

I can understand your point of view, but hundreds of dollars? Several hundred dollars for some clear vinyl and an hour and a half of labor?

If it were reasonably priced, I'd have one. I just think they're too expensive. Then again, I think the same about the Weathertech floor mats. Now THAT is a total ripoff.

Bob (magnetbra) refuses to issue a refund.
He maintains that he made a "custom" bra and maintains that just because it doesn't fit that it carries no warranty or guarantee.
He further went on to tell me he would recut it and then it would be the standard bra and he would return it to me.
So...I told him to re-cut it, call it the standard bra, and consider the now standard bra as returned and issue my refund.
He then stated that it was used and he could nor resell it
It has never been used as it did not fit the car and that was my purpose for returning it to begin with.
His website states a 30 day UNCONDITIONAL return policy with "no questions asked" returns.
Looks like that does not apply as he asks lots of questions yet offers no refunds!

I just took the vinyl "Le-bra" off to clean underneath.
It's been on there about a week.
No signs of rubbing or chafing or even that it was ever on the hood.
Goes all the way up to just below the bulge on the hood where the magnet bra had to be "custom" cut but still didn't fit for $hit!
For 50.00 for the le-bra i think it was a good value.
Looks good and will hopefully protect as well as anything else available for 1/2 the price.

Hi Folks:

This is Magnetbra. I just discovered this post so I thought I would provide a little balance in the information about what took place. Below is the last email I received from this guy, over the fact that I also didn't refund his $12 shipping charge. (The price for the bra was refunded, even though he agreed when he requested a custom design that it would be non-returnable.) BTW, there are other misrepresentations in his post. Our bras, far from being hand-cut, are cut on a CNC machine that is accurate to 1/1,000th of an inch. Computer design is what made it possible to offer the modified design in the first place. He did accomplish one thing for us. We no longer consent to requests for custom designs. You can only take so much abuse. BTW, some of these other posts here seem almost like they came from LeBra. If so, that is a highly unethical business practice.

See...from bad comes good.
One door closes and another one opens.
Judging by the quality of your "custom" work though, you should really not be making any products no less "custom" ones!
If your definition of "custom" is a poorly crafted, ill fitting, useless piece of handiwork then you are the NEW king of "customs" not the previous title holder of so many years George Barris!
And YES...If a chef created a "special" creation that was not to my liking, you can be sure I would send it back!
Would I sneak out the door without paying? No need to! If it's not to my liking and I sent it back, the bill for that item is refunded.
Hey...that kinda sounds familiar, now doesn't it?
I think any rational person would do the same and if you think consuming a product that is unsatisfactory, is in any way normal, then you better go and get yourself checked, by a good therapist!
Now...If you really want to keep your reputation intact, you can refund my 12.00 return shipping and I would call us even.
Bad news has a funny way of getting around and a dissatisfied customer is way more likely to express their dissatisfaction to the masses then a satisfied one ever will.
Just some food for thought...

Final reply

Magnetbra here again.

Just a few more things. We also sell some of our models on eBay. If you are interested in thousands of unbiased reviews of our product or company, please check our feedback there. (And on eBay we don't accept returns.)

In a nutshell, what happened here is that this guy requested a bra custom designed to his specifications. We told him we could do the design but that the bra would be non-returnable if it didn't work out. He agreed to these terms and we made the bra. It didn't work out, and in spite of his earlier agreement, he demanded a refund. We tried to work with him by offering our standard design but he insisted on a refund. We ended up sending the refund, even though we were under no legal or moral obligation to do so. He then demanded a refund of his shipping cost, something, like most internet merchants, we don't offer even for legitimate returns. So over a $12 shipping charge he left this false and malicious post in order to try to harm our business.

Make your own judgment about this guy's character but it's clear he's not doing anyone any favors, especially if he convinces them to buy an inferior product that ends up damaging their car.
