Default oil changes and service

since i do all my own work and will be changing my own oil . i hear KIA is a pain to deal with with if they do not do the service or if you use oil filter other then theirs if you have peoblems . I know we have laws to protect us and allow us to do are own work with out voiding warrantys . has anybody had problems with KIA in these areas ?
i know if they require the use of there filters american laws require them to provide them for free . I am doing my own work and if there are problems i guess i'll deal with it when and if it ever happends

Not trying to be rude and not my intention.

Unless you do your own work and insist on being really tight with your money further. And use a iffy off brand $1.99 filter. Most brand name filters (FRAM IS NOT ONE) that you will use and buy are at least @$3.99. That plus the saving you get on the oil not form the dealer at a jacked up rate of $3.96 or more a Qt. Makes since your on here and know what the internet is, looking silly. Looking on Ebay and getting OEM filters (in boxes) in bulk from a source. I drive a Sorento 3.5L V6 with a spin on filter. From dealer a 26300-35503 filter cost @10.66 with drain plug washer over counter at parts dept with tax. In service it is slightly more. On Ebay the same 26300-35503 cost me $24.99 for six (6) with the washer and shipped to me in SC form CONN for $10.95. This was a total of $34.99 or $5.83 each. I think this speaks for itself. And being that cheap that you can not spend that for OEM to end the problem you think you have is just being plain damn cheap and very unwise. If you document it all no matter waht you use they can not say a word. But use your head, and think what $5.83 (filter and washer) buys you OEM and why you think @$4.25 non OEM (filter and washer) is wise. Working smarter is not always more expensive. Nor is it the cheapest way either. How much does that $1.50 really mean to you? Even more so when you are not spending the extra $5.45 plus tax at the parts counter of the dealer for the SAME THING. And your paying 50% less for the oil.

Dealer oil change @ on avg $33.xx with no coupon. $27 or $24.99 or $19 as a loss leader is a diff story. Synth is more too. Like $53.xx or more

My DIY DINO oil change $5.83+$8.00?=$13.83?
My DIY Synth oil change $5.83+$19.00=$24.83

Your DIY DINO $4.25+$8.00?=$12.25?
Your DIY Sunth $4.25+$19.00=$23.25

I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU USE AN OE FILTER....PN 26300 35503 AND ALSO REPLACE THE DRAIN PLUG GASKET (.45$) WITH EACH OIL CHANGE. KIA SUGGESTED RETAIL IN MY REGION IS 6.67 FOR THE FILTER. I USUALLY DISCOUNT IF SOMEONE BUYS A CASE OF 12.
>>>>IF YOU USE A QUALITY OIL AND FILTER, DOCUMENT MILES, SERVICE DATE AND SAVE CORRESPONDING RECEIPTS YOU SHOULDNT HAVE ANY WARRANTY ISSUES WITH KIA SHOULD SOMETHING COME UP.<<<<<
ONLY ISSUES I'VE SEEN WITH KIA IS WHEN A CUSTOMER HAS AN ISSUE AND CAN'T PROVIDE SERVICE RECORDS AND PROVE THE LAST OIL CHANGE WASNT 13,000 MILES AGO LIKE THE REMINDER STICKER ON THE WINDSHIELD SAYS. I'VE ALSO SEEN MY SHARE COME IN FOR warranty "OIL LEAKS" WHERE DRAIN PLUG GASKET WASNT REPLACED OR AFTERMARKET SEALS FOR OIL FILTER CARTRIDGE HOUSING (3.8 SEDONA) ARENT REPLACED OR DON'T SEAL RIGHT. KPS

Buy a brand name filter, doesn't have to be KIA. My KIA dealer gave me 1 free oil & filter change. Imagine my surprise when I did the next oil service & found a smaller diameter ''Quaker State'' oil filter on my KIA Rondo! I take advantage of deals (mostly AdvanceAuto parts) like 5qts QS/Valvoline/Pennz w/Puro filter for 12.99-14.99 & always use new dealer bought drainplug gasket. Keep your reciepts.

the bigest problem is i live over 50 miles from the kia dealer . i have reseached oil filters and the super tech is one of the best 2.50 at wal mart and rates up there with the purolator filter . mobile one 5/20 full synthetic is 22.00 per gallon . so at 25.00 i do it myself it's done right and i am able to look over other things when i'm down there . it's not about being cheap it's about it being done right and i know i do things right and have for over 35 years .

i will keep all repciets and i keep a log of all the work done date time and mileage
i am going to the mobile one 5/20 full synthetic oil $22.00 for a gallon and the super tech oil filter i have done research on filters and the super tech is the best bang for the buck . I thought the 5/20 was a thin oil but if it's what KIA recomends then it's what i'll use .

WHAT DEALER IS GETTING $46 FOR AN OIL CHANGE? OUR SOUL OIL CHANGE IS RIGHT AROUND $28.00 WITH KIA FILTER/DRAIN PLUG GASKET AND SYNTHETIC BLEND OIL. THAT INCLUDES TOPPING OFF FLUIDS, CHECKING TIRE PRESSURES AND WASHING. WALMART IS THE CHEAPEST PLACE TO BUY SYNTHETIC, I CANT EVEN BUY IT AS CHEAP WHOLESALE FROM MY SUPPLIER. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY YOUR SOUL. KPS
