Default New 2008 Kia Sorento

I just bought a new 2008 Kia Sorento and before I bought I seemed to read noting but positive feedback on it, but now that I own it and was searching around trying to find out more about the little things with it, it seems like everything thing I read is scary bad. Like dangers of the roof smashing down on me because I have a sunroof, the gas mileage is ozone killing, everything is going to brake and the warranty wont be honored. Does anyone who owns a 2008 Kia Sorento like it and have positive, happy thoughts about it?

I bought a used 07 in Jan this year. It had 21,000 miles when I bought it. Its been a great all around vehicle in good and bad weather (80" of snow in 13 days). I haven't had any problems with mine except the recall on the pass. seat airbag sensor and now the brake switch (which I don't think applies to 08's). No problems with the dealer. They send follow up letters for appointments on the recall and have been very helpful on the routine services (although I do most of my own). From what I've read most problems are on pre 07 models. It seems this site focuses mostly on the problems. Try SorenotoSite.com for a positive outlook on your great vehicle.

daisymae, that's the trouble with the internet - you rarely hear from the happy, silent, majority. Just consider the number of complaints in relation to the number of Sorentos sold since introduced in 2002 (pre 97 ???).

Yes, they are mechanical and sometimes things break. Some design "features" and some poor "dealers"/"mechanics" (using the terms loosely) have casused a few people some grief, but have generally been identified.

Sometimes a bad accident will happen (I think I know which one you refer to), but on the other hand there are bad accidents from which myself and others like me have walked away with minimal injury thanks to (imo) the construction of the Sorento (and a bit of luck or help from above, depending on your outlook). (multiple roll-over - and a sunroof - at speed).

I run my own quality management business. I'm quite intelligent . I am currently running my third Sorento. Draw your own conclusions

Enjoy your Sorie.

Don't worry Daisymae, you've bought a good vehicle.
It's the nature of the beast (the forum) where people go to find answers when something is not as it should be. If everything was OK then you don't have a burning desire to get an answer for something that hasn't broke.
Consider the number of things reported on the forum as having broke to the amount of vehicles on the road and you will find it is a very small percentage.

I bought a 2008 Sorento EX two months ago. I've driven it 1400 miles and have had zero problems since delivery. I love this vehicle. Ten years ago I would never have imagined owning a vehicle made in Korea. I traded a 2004 Saturn VUE for the KIA and have no regrets.

I bought an '08 back in November - have 8100 miles on it now. No
problems with it. I guess I can say I'm happy with mine - it's the
second Sorento for me as well.

Dealership is OK - about as good as any other dealership I've ever
dealt with.
