My wife drives the wheels off her 08 Sorento EX - almost 30,000 miles in a year's time. That should tell you that it is our primary vehicle for trips and our "family" ride. The truck has been great, airbag issue aside - but there is a fix for that now.

I made the switch to Mobil 1 synthetic, do my preventive maintainance every 7,500 miles and it runs great. More than enough power from the 3.8 to cruise at 80 mph on the freeway and still return 19-20 mpg.

I wouldn't be afraid of the safety of the vehicle. It is built on a full frame, has all of the modern safety features, and is a solid truck. Many of the safety ratings are based on cost to repair and vehicles totaled in an accident. Unfortunately, if 6 airbags deploy, it gets extremely expensive. My son works in a body shop and sees vehicles that are fixable become totals due to airbag cost. This is when we evaluate the important things - walk away from a rough crash and have your vehicle totaled, or spend time in hospital because the airbags didn't deploy. I chose to get good insurance to replace the vehicle. Couldn't get insurance to replace the wife and kids

I have a 2008 EX and overall I have been happy with it. Love the AWD in the winter!! More than enough power, and it handles like a champ.

I do have a strange noise that happens at certain speeds which I have asked about on this forum. The dealer replaced the transfer case and did something to the brakes, neither of which has solved the problem. I have decided there will be no long trips in it since I cannot trust it.

Perhaps I am spoiled (I have only had Nissan vehicles since 1995), but their service department seems clueless. I have given up on them (They wanted to replace the right front wheel bearing - even I know that has nothing to do with the problem. In fact when I told my wife she just rolled her eyes and she is not car savvy in any way, shape or form) and have decided to just wait until what ever the problem part is breaks. At that point I'm fairly certain they'll figure it out.

Good vehicle, idiot service department.

Don't worry about your Sorento. I too own a 2008 Sorento which I purchased a year ago this month. I travel A LOT and already have 30,000 miles on mine. It's been cross country twice and is due for another go in December. Other than the seat belt sensor and an issue with the front rotors, it's been amazing. This is my second Kia. My last was an Optima which was also a great car. One word of caution, if you have any, and I mean any, type of vibration or shudder when braking take it in right away. I discovered a little too late they are notorious for rotor problems during break in. If you catch it early, it's under warranty. Otherwise you're out quite a bit of money to take care of it yourself. Good luck with your Sorento. They're very versatile and a lot of fun!

We liked our '06 so much that we bought an 08 as well. Both tow my boat and car hauler well. We installed leather seats in the 08. No issues at all. Mileage is a little better than the '06. Great cars.
