Default Recommended mileage for trany flush

I have a 2004 Sorento EX with 42,000 miles on it. What is the recommended mileage for a trany flush? I know some vehicles are at 30,000; others vary.

It should say it in your owners manual.

I know this is going to open a big can of worms. The owners manual calls only for a drain and fill. I know some may come on and say you need/have to flush. To keep with the warranty just do what the manual says. By all means flush if you so desire or have the equipment or money to do it. I have 100,000 + on mine and the fluid comes out very nicely on color and smell. Maybe we can all go fishing with the worms. LOL

There is no flush. My understanding is it's a dump and fill sort of thing. I had the dealer so it for me a couple months ago and it set me back $69. Not too bad. I did n=mine at 69000 kms. I think KIA recommends it at 60 kms.

"If" your truck uses Dexron go to Wal-Mart, buy the 1 gal, drain the tranny and save $45. You get the job done quicker and you know it was done right. You could drain and fill the tranny 3 times for the same the dealer is charging for a flush. Keep the receipt and a log of the work done and your good to go. Just my .02 worth.

If you do the drop pan and clean thing EVERY 30,000 with a top up of DEXIII (4spd) or RED-1 (5spd) then it is ok. Remember a simple drop and fill does NOT drain the WHOLE trans of ALL fluid just partial. Most times it is 4-5 out of the total 10 or more qts in it. If you would like to do a added measure. Do a drop and fill at 30,000 and a machine flush at 60,000 and a drop and fill at 90,000 and a machine flush at 120,000.

Drop and fill at dealer runs @$79.95 plus tax. prices vary other places
Machine Flush at dealer runs @$199.95 plus tax. prices vary other places

The above prices were taken directly form a KIA TRAVEL TIME mail flyer for Summer Travel service reminders I got form dealer last week. Both were for KIA Fluid used to replace lost fluid.

Brake Fluid change $29.95 plus tax
Engine Coolent $59.95 plus tax
Power Steering Fluid $29.95 plus tax
Diff change $59.95 plus tax

Did I not read that the reason Kia dont say flush is because it can disturb shit in the system and lead to problems not long after the power flush? Is that why its just a drop and re fill ?

Well what you read had merrit. If your a dumbass and wait till 75,000 or longer to do anything the first time. But if your not a dumbass and do a drop/drain and fill(top off) at 30,000 and then a power flush at 60,000 thier is very little chance that you will get SHIT in the first place. Let alone be there to break loose and do as you say. Of course you could not do a drain and fill at 30,000 and 90,000 and as well do the power flush at 30,000 and then 60,000 and 90,000 and 120,000 if that is your wish, and that would make it all moot.
