Default Whistling Roof Rails

Gang,

I am new to the forum, so I apologize if this has been covered before. I have a '08 Sorento with roof rails (from Kia) that start whistling at around 35 mph. I have tried moving them all around but nothing seems to work. Any way to deal with this besides removing them? Thanks in advance!

Took mine off...no whistle...slide to rear then take screws out securing front rear bars to roof and slide off

Do you have a sunroof and wind deflector for your roof? I tried one of those for about twenty minutes and it drove me crazy - noise started between 30 - 35 mph.

If you don't have the wind deflector, just pull the bars off and the noise will be gone. If you purchased them as an add-on, take them back for a refund.

Thanks, fellas! Unfortunately, Kia really dropped the ball on the roof cross-rail design. Apparently they don't drive over 35 mph in Korea. I guess I'll take them off...

Hey don't be sad you'll gain at least 1 and possibly 2 mpg just for removing the drag (and no I'm not joking !!!) after all that's what the noise is, induced drag !!

Cheers

Hmmm, had the same thing on my 07 and I just seperated them (one towards the front and one at th back) and the noise went away.

May have to completely remove them thought for the mpg......

Can you remove the rails completely or only the cross rails?
