Default trouble starting 03 sorento...

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue...

When I go to start my car it hesitates a lot then after the 2nd or 3rd crank the car starts. I have taken it to the dealer and they claim they can't find nothing wrong with it.

Any ideas??? I am @ 59k miles so I wanna get this resolved b4 the big 60k....and I bet you once I hit it they will say "oh yea you need a new ...." and charge me and arm and a leg.

Anything I can do by myself?

If its cranking fast enough forget the battery as a problem ...try turning on the ignition for say 15 seconds ( dont crank) and then see if it starts ...if it does it sounds like the fuel pressure is slowto build up ...so fuel filters ( in tank ) etc...let us know how you go

I would give a good injector cleaner a try. maybe two tanks with each fill of cleaner.

The other suggestion which has caused many cars to stop rather than be difficult to start is the crank position sensor on the front left hand camshaft drive wheel ...evidentally this is easy to change in half an hour.

200 mil of acetone per tank will clean the system of tar but I dont think its that for a minute if it runs ok once started.....does it do this hot and cold ??? or when its been left overnight ???

1. I have replaced the battery once already...and I believe it was like 13months ago..this car is not very electronically sound.

2. I have tried letting the ignition sit for almost a minute and still gives me a hard time.

3. At first it only happened overnight, then when it cooled off, now if it sits for more than 30min it gives me a hard time

3a. I also tried the fuel injector cleaner and that didn't do it either.
4. Last time I took it to the dealer they CLAIM they didn't find anything wrong with it. But I gonna try them again cuz its getting worse and my milage is @ 59k

5. As for now I crank once and wait 2 sec then start...but I dont want to deal with it anymore.

Ok as I do not have time to go and look. Are you one that when others say change fuel filter every 35,000 to protect things you protest and balk? And mine is fine at .....? But has recently replaced it now after being badgered into it? Are you one that had a fuel pump problem in the many threads on that subject?

The answers to those questions will either make it clear for you or help us discount things up front. And save time.

if it was the plugs it would throw a MIL for a misfire same for crank position sensor so my money is on the fuel filter .though there are a hundred things that arnt so simple but as its engine related you would expect a MIL for many of them ...filter ..under back seat in fuel tank access is RHS pull it out and have a look
