Oil for diesel engines has a higher detergent content and keeps the crap in suspension better and of course is just as good a lubricant ...you may want to try that for a few changes...???

Good idea for the diesel oil. About the only ones we have in the US that are "diesel oils" are Castrol's Tection and Shell's Rotella T. Both available at most parts stores. You can check the grade stamps on back of the containers

Most of the oils we have are rated for gas and/or diesel engines. Marvel Mystery Oil is a good product - about the same as using Transmission fluid.

It's interesting to compare products from Australia to the US. We have a product branded "Motor Flush". It is almost like pouring a quart of kerosene in the crankcase. It does flush the engine, but it also breaks loose all sorts of crud to float around in your oil pan. I try to reserve it as a last ditch effort and then only when I want to pull the oil pan and clean it out.

Drove the truck to the dealer. Had the crank bolt and butterfly recall done. Had T/B, plugs, wires and belts replaced. Cost $982. Ticking noise has not returned. Not pleased that I have a vehicle that I has to have half the engine taken apart to change the plugs in it, but it has been a really good truck so far. Back in 2004 when my wife told me she liked the look of the Kia, I scoffed about it. It took her nagging for about two weeks until I went and looked at a Sorento (without her). The salesman at the dealership didn't nag me after I told him I was just looking, he handed me his card and said if I needed anything he'd be in the office. I looked around for about an hour, then left. I came back the next day, he poked his head out and waved, I looked at the Sorentos for about fifteen minutes then went in and asked to test drive one. He told me to pick one, put a tag on and told me he'd see me when I get back. I returned about thirty minutes later and gave him the key back. I couldn't find anything I didn't like about the Kia. The salesman still didn't hassle me. My wife and I went back up to the dealership that night. Took a Sorento for a test drive for her to drive. Still no hassle, still found no reason not to like it. Called the dealer the next day, he didn't have an red 04 on the lot and I gave him the stock number of one from another dealer. The reason I wouldn't talk to the other dealer is because they put a sticker for "local market adjustment" next to the sticker price, adding $1,200 to the price. The salesman told me they'd probably be able to get it from the other dealer. He called back about a half hour later. He said they could get the red one with no problem then went on to tell me they'd take off $2K for an incentive, then another $2K because I also own a Toyota 4Runner, then he told me they would knock off another $2K because the 05's were out. So I got a $25K for $19K and didn't have to play stupid games with the dealer. We've had the Sorento for almost four years now. We take it on the beach about every other weekend (OBX North Carolina), it has been through snowstorms (deepest about a foot, trips to Bethesda MD area), STILL can't find a reason not to like it overall. It has proven itself to be as tough as my old '86 4Runner, I'm really amazed at how well built the Sorento is, Kia has come a long way.
